During a week long brief held at my university, Dyson creatives gave us the task of designing a branding solution for MarinaTex, a James Dyson award winner, who have created a completely sustainable and compostable plastic alternative. We took a day to brainstorm in groups and cover all areas of the brief, the surrounding context and shake out any initial ideas.
I then created a logo and wordmark, a secondary icon for products that use the material (this had to stand out and inform the user about disposal, possibly becoming a new standard for sustainable iconography) and some motion graphics for social media.
Presenting this to the Dyson creatives, I demonstrated how my thinking was based around giving a voice to nature, which in turn was reflected in the tone of voice which could be used in spaces as large as billboards or as small as a 5mm icon. They awarded me and a few other amazing people a Dyson fan, so I was pretty chuffed.
